Chapter 2

Alika feels nervous everyday as she goes to school. Masumi walks with her and offers to walk her to her classroom. Alika says it's okay and that he must be mebarassed to be seen with his sister. Masumi says he's fine with it since he's kind of worried about her. Alika suddenly hugs him and Masumi turns bright red, his heart beating fast. Some girls greet Alika and she is her usual cheery self. Alika watches the girls walk away and sighs dreamily that girls are so much nicer. Masumi pleads his sister not to run off with a girl no matter how much she hates boys ^^;;

Kazuki calls her name and tells her that they have a meeting at lunch. Alika just stands there staring at him. She stutters a reply at him. He asks if she remembers his name and she does. He says "well done" to her and says that they're in the same council so they should say "hi". Then he walks off. Masumi asks Alika if she's friends with him and she says not really. Masumi doesn't seem to like Kazuki. Alika wants to know if Kazuki really is the "Fujino kun" from primary school because if he is, he isn't supposed to be in her year group. She wants to know, but she can't exactly ask if he repeated a year.

At the meeting, they decide that there will be 2 presidents and 2 vice's (one guy, one girl) and 1 for finance and 2 for documents (?). So there are 6 members in the student council:
Presidents: Tachibana Mitsuko, Ichinomiya Makoto
Vice's: Sugimoto Alika, Touno Kazuki
Finance: Minegishi Kousuke
Documents: Horie Nana

Makoto then asks what a picture frame on the wall is. Mitsuko tells him that it is a picture of Ayame-sama, a council member from a long time ago (she looks really pretty). Makoto takes the picture off the wall because it's not a girls' school any more. They find a safe in the wall behind the picture. The three guys stare at it. Makoto asks what it is and what's in it. Mitsuko just tells him smugly that he should find out himself. He gets really worked up and is determined to open the safe ^^;

The members all go in pairs to photocopy, clean up, etc. and Kazuki asks Alika to come with him to photocopy. He smiles and says that now that they're co-ed, Alika should interact more with guys instead of just sticking to girls. Kousuke then comments that Kazuki probably won't receive as many love letters and chocolates from other guys any more and Kazuki tells him to shut up. Alika is puzzled. They leave the room and Mitsuko ends up having to clean up with Makoto. The two aren't very compatible ^^;

As Kazuki and Alika are walking down the corridor, Kazuki says that he's straight (^^;;) and Alika cracks up laughing. She admits that she's gotten letters and such from girls too, so she didn't think he was gay or anything. Kazuki sort of stares at her while she's laughing, then says that she should always be laughing and smiling like that. Alika realises she forgot Kazuki was a boy. He tells her that she's popular among the guys, but they say she is "cute, but never speaks or smiles". He asks her why she doesn't like guys and it must be boring for her to live like that. Alika keeps thinking that he reminds her of the little boy, "Fujino kun". She says that it's nothing. Then, she bumps into a guy and all the papers she was carrying, falls to the floor. She sees who it is and it's the guy she saw from the assembly, the reason why she fainted. She hadn't mistaken him for the guy from primary school because it was him! Alika looks away, trembling. He calls her "Saitou" and puzzles Kazuki because Alika's surname is "Sugimoto". The guy is Tadokoro, who bullied her for 2 years during primary school. He comments how much she has changes, being in the student council and stuff. Then Kazuki suddenly shouts at Tadokoro, saying he remembers him as the number one student who is always late to school and skips class. Tadokora walks off after Kazuki makes jokes about some punishments. Alika is teary and she can't believe that not only does she have to put up with having guys all around her, she also has to put up with a guy who she absolutely hates to death. Kazuki picks up the papers from the floor and says that if she needs to talk about something, she can tell him. Alika doesn't want anyone to know what she used to be like and she doesn't want to remember either. She tells him it's oky and nothing is wrong. She tells herself that she has to be strong and not cry, no matter what.

At the library, Mitsuko and Kazuki are talking during class. He asks her about Alika, what she is like around girls and about her surname. Mitsuko teases him and asks if he's interested in Alika. He says yes. Mitsuko tells him that Alika is pretty normal around girls. Kazuki asks if she's usually quiet and Mitsuko says that Alika is definitely not quiet! Then Kazuki asks whether Alika's surname used to be "Saitou" and Mitsuko says she knows Alika's parents divorced during primary school but now she has a really cool dad. She says that Alika doesn't seem to like any guys so Kazuki should try. Kazuki says that when he said he was interested in Alika, he didn't mean it like that.

The two of them leave the library as class ends. They hear a teacher shouting at two girls, one of them is Alika. Mitsuko asks a girl nearby what's wrong. The other girl is in trouble because the teacher thought she is wearing lipstick, but it's just coloured lip balm. The teacher who is female, is famous for being strict against make up, even though she wears heaps. The teacher tells Alika to tell the girl off as well, because it's the job of the student council to take care of things like that. Alika apologises on behalf of the girl, then she says "make-up is only for people who don't have confidence in themselves or they have horrible skin, right Miss?" She smiles and tells the teacher that maybe she should wear less make-up too because bright red lipstick just looks trashy. And finally, Alika says that some students might even admire the teacher's make up and try to copy her. The teacher gives up (her ego severely damamged ^^;) and walks off. Mitsuko then says to Kazuki that she's very strong. Kazuki just stares in amazement. Mitsuko says that Alika always has good grades and most teachers are on her side so it's okay if every once in a while she goes off and says stuff without thinking. She treasures her friends so that's why a lot of people like Alika and she cheers up the situation whenever she's there. But Mitsuko wonders why or how Alika became to hate guys.

Alika wonders why she can act normal around girls but not guys. She isn't really afraid of guys, just that she doesn't really want to have anything to do with them. Except now that she's met Kazuki, she knows that guys can be nice too.

Later, Alika has to go lock up the council room because Mitsuko was too busy (?). While she's locking up, Kazuki appears with some interview form for the school newspaper. They want to write an article on the student council. Kazuki says they need profiles and photos. Alika shrieks because she doesn't want her photo in the newspaper (even more guys will see her ^^;;). She spots Kazuki's birthdate, which is 1981 while the rest of them are 1982. She asks if he is older. He says he is because in grade 6 he had to have an operation. She asks which primary school he went to and it's the same as Alika's. She starts to cry when she realises that she met "Fujino kun" again. He asks what's wrong and Alika says it's nothing and she just remembers she had to go do something and runs off. Kazuki has no idea what's going on. Alika can't believe Kazuki is "Fujino kun" and she met him again. She remembers that every time she felt like she wanted to die, she'd remember his words and she could keep going. But she doesn't want to tell him that she was that weak little girl back then.

Later, some guys are looking at the school newspaper, saying how cute all the council girls are. They're talking to Tadokoro, who then says that the vice, Sugimoto Alika, is "his"!
